Google including Synonyms in Results
Last week Google announced the inclusion of synonyms within their search results.
Some of you may be asking..”Ok I remember the word synonym from school but what exactly are they?”
For example; if you did a search for “pictures of sharks” the results in Google would include sites related to the word “Pictures of Sharks” as well as “Photos of Sharks” The synonym for “picture” could be “photo”.
What does this mean? Well for starters this allows search results to have a much more relevant result for the end user. For the marketer, it can mean the ability to optimize for more keywords. It is also interesting from a marketing perspective what keywords may be bringing in traffic to a web site. What you may though was good keywords may not be the case.
